Clover ETL Is Platform Independent

Clover is a Java application and will run on virtually any platform. This applies to both the Clover Designer and Server applications. Windows, Mac OS X, Linux are all suitable platforms and installation is very straightforward. All major Java Servlet containers and databases are supported as standard.

Design on any PC

The Clover Designer is the tool that you use to design your data transformation graphs. Clover has been tested on the following platforms

  • Windows XP
  • Vista
  • Mac OS X
  • Ubuntu
  • Platforms that support Java and graphical applications

The Designer runs in Eclipse and so the basic platform is stable, widespread and ideally suited to the purpose. You can also execute transformations direct from the Designer without the need for any server components if you wish, although the Enterprise Edition Designers can deploy graphs to the Clover Server.

All Enterprise server platforms supported

Users of the Enterprise Edition will be glad to know that the Clover Server can also be installed on the widest possible range of platforms with one, single installation. All that is needed is the Java JRE or JDK V1.5 or later.

Java Servlet Containers

The Enterprise Edition server will run under the following containers

  • Tomcat
  • Websphere
  • Glassfish

Database

A database is only needed with the Enterprise Server so logs, execution history and some other data is stored. As you can see from the list below, Clover is almost certain to work with the database that you like to work with

  • MySQL
  • DB2
  • Oracle
  • Microsoft SQL
  • Postgres

Footprint

Clover ETL has a small footprint and so it can be installed in many different environments without the need for huge amounts of memory. You will need to ensure that Java and Clover together have at least 256Mb or RAM. Larger data transformations will perform better with more memory and CPUs. Regardless of your system resurces, you can assume that Clover represents easily the best price / performance in the industry.
