Chapter 7. Installing Designer Into Eclipse 3.4

Eclipse 3.4 GANYMEDE allows you to install CloverETL Designer plugin directly into it. In this release of Eclipse Platform, all required plugins are being installed during the installation of CloverETL Designer plugin. You do not need to install them separately and you only need to download and install CloverETL Designer.

The methods of downloading CloverETL Designer depend on your license and they all differ for Eclipse 3.4 as compared with how it must be done with other versions of Eclipse.

First, you must register an account at the company site: www.cloveretl.com/user/register.

After that, you will be sent an e-mail with your login name and password. In that mail, you will be asked to confirm the registration. Without doing that, you would not be able to download the CloverETL Designer plugin.

When you confirm the registration, you can download CloverETL Designer itself. After choosing HelpSoftware Updates from the main menu, you can see the window with already installed software:

Installed Software

Switch to the Available Software tab and click the Add Site... button on it and fill in the text area in the new window. For Location you must type: http://designer.cloveretl.com/eval-update (or http://designer.cloveretl.com/update for commercial CloverETL Designer).

Remember that if you have more sites of CloverETL Designer in your list of available software in Eclipse 3.4, you should keep only one CloverETL Designer site there and remove the other CloverETL Designer sites. Otherwise, Eclipse would ask your login and password for all of them gradually, even if only one site is checked.

The resulting window should be as follows:
